There is a disparity in autism prevalence between Latino and white
children, and social workers are best positioned to "dismantle the forces
that limit Latino children's access to autism diagnosis and treatment
services," writes Kristina Lopez, an assistant professor of social work.
Lopez and her colleagues identified three ways social workers can address such
issues, including implementing a framework that recognizes discrimination and
oppression.
