The parents of a six-year-old child with autism in Montreal say their son is benefiting from the iPad application Proloquo2Go. The app allows the child, who is nonverbal, to communicate using a series of images on the touch screen to form sentences. The relatively low cost and wide availability of the app makes it an attractive alternative for parents, although some stress it may not meet the complex needs of some individuals with special needs.
