Study: Neurodevelopmental problems common in low birth-weight infants

Data showed 21% of infants born at a gestational age of 22 weeks to 26 weeks with a birth weight less than 400 grams survived to 18 months to 26 months' corrected age with active treatment, according to a study in JAMA Pediatrics. Moderate to severe neurodevelopmental impairment was seen in 74% of surviving infants, researchers said.  Physician's Briefing/HealthDay News
