Raised in New Mexico in the 50's & 60's. Worked with public school programs for students with disabilities for 30+ years, mostly as a director of special education. Worked for 2 years at a small residential state school for individuals with mental retardation. Now working with a state project that provides training and information for parents of children with disabilities.
I was on the board of the state association for directors of special education. I also volunteered with ARC of Texas, the Special Olympics program at various levels.
There is lots I do not know, but I do have experience and contacts.
Federally-funded health centers care for you, even if you have no health insurance. You pay what you can afford based on your income. There are health centers in most cities and many rural areas. From http://www.disabilityinfo.gov/
