An increasing number of travel destinations including theme parks
have obtained autism certification from the International Board of
Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards in a bid to accommodate
families with members on the autism spectrum. Certification requires 21 hours
of sensory awareness training for 80% of staff members who interact with guests
followed by an exam and recertification every two years. The organization also
provides parks with sensory guides to rate their attractions.
