Organization updates treatment guide for children with autism

The American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry has issued new guidelines for diagnosing and treating children with autism. Recommendations include finding a range of appropriate services for children, helping families with long-term planning and finding support for parents and siblings. Doctors also are encouraged to ask about and advise caregivers on any alternative therapies they are using.
