Study: Social media use not tied to youth depression


A Canadian study in Clinical Psychological Science found no association between social media use and depression symptom development among teens and young adults. The findings, based on surveys involving more than 1,700 sixth- to eighth-grade students and college students, showed that adolescent girls already feeling depressed actually spent more time on social media to try to feel better.
