More Training Needed for Family Caregivers A recent Institute of Medicine report said family members are not properly trained to provide increasing levels of medical care for patients who are sent home from the hospital or rehab in worse physical condition than ever before, creating a big gap in the U.S. health care system. Experts say the U.S. needs a system to offer and pay for caregiver training, which some groups are beginning to offer.
