An elementary school program in Westbury, NY, brings students with different learning profiles together to learn how to build & program robots.

Working in teams of two, students with learning disabilities work with students in the gifted & talented program for ten two-hour lessons. They tackle lessons in math, science and technology to build & design working robots, using interlocking plastic bricks & gears made by LEGO.
The most important lesson that Gabby Davis, 10, from the gifted & talented program at Drexel Avenue School, took away wasn’t math or science. “I learned that it’s important to work with your partner because doing it by yourself is tricky,” said Gabby.
