Federal data show a widespread shortage of certified special education teachers, coupled with high attrition rates & a rapidly growing student population. At the same time, colleges are not producing enough graduates to meet the demand. The result: students with disabilities are far more likely than their typical peers to be taught by uncertified or inexperienced teachers.
