This website has a plain language version of the new 508-255 Advance Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (ANPRM)& a forum to discuss it. The Access Board is the independent federal agency responsible for developing standards for the government to oversee accessibility for people with disabilities. The Board has revised Section 508, the purchasing standards the government uses for information & communication technology & Section 255, the rules for making phones & other telecommunication products accessible. Public comments on the 508-255 ANPRM must be sent to the Board by June 21, 2010.
