Teens with Disabilities Must Decide between Job & Payments

Many low-income teenagers who receive disability payments through the federal Supplemental Security Income program face difficult decisions about whether to accept part-time work that could jeopardize the much-needed SSI payments for their families, an analysis by the Boston Globe found. These teens, the newspaper found, may be missing out on vital job experience that could help to prepare them for the adult workplace, an unintended consequence of the valuable service program.
