Georgia county's autism instruction is seen as a model
An approach used by educators and therapists in Columbia County, Ga., to teach students with autism is seen by state education officials as a model for other schools throughout the state. Instruction for students with autism is based on the principles of applied behavioral analysis, and classrooms are staffed with one lead teacher -- who focuses on academics, behavior and cognition -- along with up to three therapists and a speech pathologist.
