Report Outlines supports for People w/ Hearing Impairments

Children who cannot hear or who have hearing impairments benefit from early exposure to signed or spoken language, according to a new report by the Government Accountability Office. The report finds obstacles to providing these services, from determining which services are most effective to hiring and retaining quality teaching staff and service providers in the public education system. Furthermore, one advocate said students who cannot hear need long-term support throughout their educational careers.
