Rwanda improves access to education for students with disabilities

In Rwanda, more schools are enrolling students with disabilities in inclusive environments as part of an effort to raise awareness about the rights of students with special needs. It is estimated that about 10% of the country's students have a disability, but few of them attend mainstream schools and many others live too far from specialized schools. Officials say that increasing access to education is the first step toward ending discrimination and stigmas related to such students.
