Technology Impacting Individuals with Disabilities.
The National Council on Disability (NCD) has released a new report: The Power of Digital Inclusion: Technology's Impact on Employment and Opportunities for People with Disabilities. The report explores six key digital technologies that can enhance social engagement, increase workplace participation, heighten employment prospects, or create new employment opportunities for people with disabilities. The report proposes that digital networks are likely more important for people with disabilities than for the general population and examines the potential of technological pathways to serve as conduits to social capital, via networks, and to employment: wireless communication platforms, social networking, virtual worlds and serious gaming, tiered digital interactions and electronic games, open publishing, and open-source process.
