Work, Assistive Technology and Transition-Aged Youth

Work, Assistive Technology and Transition-Aged Youth (2011), an updated version of an earlier publication, is now available on the web site National Assistive Technology (AT) Advocacy Project. http://www.nls.org/Work%20AT%20and%20TAY.pdf
The manual focuses on a case scenario involving a 17 year old with multiple needs for AT as she completes her special education program, attends college, & eventually moves on to her employment goal. In the process, she will access several different benefit programs as funding sources for AT, including the special ed program, the state vocational rehabilitation agency, Medicaid, Medicare, & SSI's Plan for Achieving Self Support. The National AT Advocacy Project of Neighborhood Legal Services, Inc. provides technical assistance, training, & a range of other support services, nationwide, to attorneys & advocates who work at Protection and Advocacy programs & specialize in assistive technology issues. Resources on AT topics are available on their website at www.nls.org/natmain.htm
