New disability law to be implemented in Ontario, Canada

Small- and medium-sized businesses in Ontario, Canada, are working to comply with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, new provincial legislation to be phased in over the next 10 years. Phase One of the law requires changes in the way businesses provide customer service, but some say the requirement is unclear. Advocates and officials say businesses must identify potential barriers in attitude and services and devise a plan to address them, as well as provide training for employees on serving customers with disabilities.
