Government to reduce special-education rolls in England
Up to 450,000 children in England could be removed from special education under a new government plan prompted by concerns that students are being over-diagnosed as needing special services. The plan, being unveiled today, includes stricter criteria for diagnosing students with behavioral and learning difficulties, but critics say the plan may "cut adrift" some students who do need services.
