Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder is a developmental disorder that affects many executive-function skills needed for successful classroom learning, pediatrician Mark Bertin writes in this opinion piece. There are heavy demands on executive-function skills in today's classrooms, which have grown in number of students and now emphasize activities such as silent reading and experiential learning, that may be difficult for students with ADHD, he writes.
