■Research studies Kinect system as tool for recognizing autism
Researchers at the University of Minnesota's Institute of Child Development in Minneapolis are studying whether the motion-sensing capability of Microsoft's Kinect gaming system can be used to help detect early signs of autism in young children. The eventual goal of the research is a game that would help parents determine whether their children might be demonstrating early signs of the disorder. "The idea is not that we are going to replace the diagnosis, but we are going to bring diagnosis to everybody," researcher Guillermo Sapiro said.
