Psychologist practices talk therapy with clients who are nonverbal

Psychologist Amy Szarkowski of Harvard Medical School's psychiatry department and Children's Hospital Boston provides talk therapy to clients who are nonverbal but use assistive technology to communicate. Szarkowski has consulted with a speech-language pathologist, and uses e-mail in between sessions to help communicate with her clients. "We all experience emotions," Szarkowski said, "even if we can't talk."
