School uses robots to teach students with autism

An elementary school in Birmingham, England, is piloting a project with the University of Birmingham to use robots to teach students with autism basic skills, such as memory. The knee-high robots work with children ages 5 to 10 and are considered easier for the students to interact with than their human teachers. "It is amazing to see how engaged and focused they can be when they are working with the robot," Karen Guldberg, director of the university's Autism Centre for Education and Research said.
