Canadian program trains dogs to assist individuals with disabilities

Pacific Assistance Dogs Society in Burnaby, British Columbia, has trained 600 dogs to assist individuals with limited mobility. Assistance dogs help individuals open doors, retrieve items and much more. It costs about $30,000 to train a dog, and those that don't make the cut are often trained as therapy dogs or become pets of children with disabilities, according to PADS.
