13 states to get federal money for disability housing project


The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development is giving almost $98 million to 13 states to pay for approximately 3,530 rental housing units for people with disabilities who need help living independently. State housing officials are working with the Department of Health and Human Services and Medicaid to identify eligible individuals, many of whom may be moving from institutional settings. Funds are headed to California, Delaware, Georgia, Illinois, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Maryland, Minnesota, Montana, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Texas and Washington.
