6.4 million 4- to 17-year-olds have been diagnosed with
attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder at some point in their lives, an
increase of 53% over the past decade, CDC researchers said. They noted that
about two-thirds of children with the condition were given stimulant
prescriptions such as Ritalin or Adderall.
