Needed: Inclusion of Disability on TV and in Movies

By Blogger Henry Holden, Actor, Activist and Founder, Performers with Disabilities for the Screen Actors Guild

I watch television & go to the movies. I assume a lot of other people do this also. However, I rarely see actors with visible disabilities in either the movies or the TV shows that I watch. I believe the media has an enormous influence on how society perceives different minorities. Statistical figures cite that there are nearly 57 million people with disabilities in the U.S., meaning one out of seven people in the United States has a disability. This represents a big percentage of the population. Yet when it comes to the mass media, where are we?  http://usodep.blogs.govdelivery.com/2013/04/05/needed-inclusion-of-disability-in-tv-and-movies/
