How cognitive-skills training can help close the achievement gap
While there is some debate about the role of cognitive-skills training in education, recent research conducted by early-childhood education researcher Sarah Avtzon shows such training may help close the achievement gap for students with learning disabilities. In this blog post, Avtzon highlights findings from a recent study of 40 elementary-school students with specific learning disabilities "Implications from these results include that training of cognitive processes for students with learning disabilities can result in significant academic performance," she writes.
