FDA warns against use of oxygen therapy for autism, other disorders
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy, approved to treat burns and decompression sickness, is not a proven therapy for autism, cerebral palsy and dozens of other disorders, according to a warning issued by the Food and Drug Administration. The agency further warned that some individuals are delaying proven therapies by using the alternative oxygen therapy and that it can cause dangerous side effects.
