GAO: Autism research projects may be redundant

A Government Accountability Office report said 84% of federally funded autism research projects over four years had the potential to overlap and called for better coordination of efforts to reduce redundancy. The report found that five agencies sponsored 20 research projects aimed at improving services to diverse communities and four agencies paid for initiatives to improve quality of life or outcomes for adults with autism.
