Revised screening tool boosts autism identification in toddlers

The revised version of the Modified Checklist for Autism in Toddlers identified more low-risk toddlers with autism spectrum disorders compared with the original format, while also reducing the proportion of children requiring a follow-up, a study in the journal Pediatrics. Using the revised screening tool, children were diagnosed with the condition two years sooner than the national median age of diagnosis.
