Researcher designs individualized voices for text-to-speech devices

A speech-science professor at Northeastern University is working on technology to custom-design voices for text-to-speech devices. Noting that voices are as unique to humans as fingerprints, Rupal Patel has sought donated voice samples from thousands of volunteers and is beta testing her technology.
