Raised in New Mexico in the 50's & 60's. Worked with public school programs for students with disabilities for 30+ years, mostly as a director of special education. Worked for 2 years at a small residential state school for individuals with mental retardation. Now working with a state project that provides training and information for parents of children with disabilities.
I was on the board of the state association for directors of special education. I also volunteered with ARC of Texas, the Special Olympics program at various levels.
There is lots I do not know, but I do have experience and contacts.
In 2002, Vermont became the first state to stop funding sheltered workshops for people with disabilities. Today, the state leads the nation in almost every measure of workplace inclusion. https://www.disabilityscoop.com/2015/12/16/a-bet-on-inclusion-pays-off/21695/
