Just under 2% of very premature infants were later diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder between ages 2 and 4, which was lower than the 4% to 13% figures from previous studies, according to a study in Pediatrics. Researchers evaluated 169 children born before the 29th week of pregnancy and screened them for possible signs of autism at ages 2 and 4.
