Operation Prevention: New Resources For Educators
Operation Prevention, an
initiative from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and Discovery
Education, aims to combat the growing epidemic of prescription opioid misuse
and heroin use by educating students about the science behind addiction and its
impacts on the brain and body. The newest Operation Prevention resources
include the Science of Addiction Student Learning Module which allows students
to investigate the impacts of heroin and prescription opioids on the brain and
body through a self-paced scientific exploration; the Elementary School Lesson
which explains how medications work in our bodies and why it is important to
use them responsibly; the Extended Parent Toolkit with discussion starters for
elementary age students; and resources in Spanish. Prevention
