Special-education chiefs speak out on disparity rule

The National Association of State Directors of Special Education has sent the US Department of Education a letter asking it not to postpone implementation of a rule that would require states to examine whether they are disproportionately identifying for special education and disciplining minority students. The regulation is to go into effect during the 2018-19 school year and run for at least two years.
