Adolescents and young adults with autism spectrum disorder had a
higher suicide attempt risk, particularly in later life, and attempted suicide
at a significantly younger age, compared with those without ASD, Taiwanese
researchers reported in the Journal of Clinical Psychiatry. The findings also
showed a higher prevalence of psychiatric comorbidities, such as anxiety
disorders, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, bipolar disorder, bipolar
depression, disruptive behavior disorders and intelligence disability, among
those with ASD. Medscape (free registration)
