Children whose mothers had type 1, type 2 or gestational diabetes
mellitus at or before 26 weeks of pregnancy were more likely to develop autism
spectrum disorder, compared with those whose mothers didn't have diabetes,
according to a study presented at the American Diabetes Association annual
meeting and published in the Journal of the American Medical Association.
However, researchers didn't associate GDM diagnosed after 26 weeks of pregnancy
to a significantly higher pediatric ASD risk.
