Autism may increase depression risk in young adulthood

A UK study in JAMA Network Open showed that 19.8% of youths with autism spectrum disorder had a depression diagnosis by age 27, compared with 6% of those in the general population, with a higher depression risk found among those with ASD and no intellectual disability. Researchers also found that depression was more prevalent among cognitively normal half- and full-siblings of those with ASD, compared with the general population.  Healio (free registration) ,  Physician's Briefing/HealthDay News
