Workers with Disabilities Perform Well

A 2008 study at DePaul University has found employees with disabilities from the healthcare, retail & hospitality sectors were just as dependable & productive as employees without disabilities.

In fact: Participants with disabilities from the retail & hospitality sectors stayed on the job longer than participants without disabilities. Across all sectors, participants with disabilities had fewer scheduled absences. Retail participants with disabilities had fewer days of unscheduled absences. Regardless of sector, participants with & without disabilities had nearly identical job performance ratings. Costs associated with workers with disabilities were minimal & worth the expense. Benefits associated w/ workers w/ disabilities included having dedicated & reliable employees & a more diverse workforce. http://www.disabilityworks.org/default.asp?contentID=87
