Peer Mentoring Helps Students w/ Spec needs Practice Social Skills

An Illinois high school has a Peer Communication Group in which students without disabilities are partnered with those who have disabilities to promote positive social interaction. The students meet twice a week during school hours and cover such topics as how to greet friends or teachers. A new after-school Hang Time club offers monthly activities for students to practice their skills with their peer mentors. Patch.com/Plainfield, Ill.
