Autism plus epilepsy increases mortality risk, study finds
Researchers reported in the Journal of Child Neurology that mortality rates of people who have autism and epilepsy were 800% higher compared with those who have only autism. The results indicate a need for more research on the risk factors and underlying mechanisms for epilepsy and autism to find early interventions and preventive measures, said Dr. Roberto Tuchman, a pediatric neurologist and member of Autism Speaks.
