Some virtual schools focus on students' social skills
Some virtual schools are holding in-person field trips or meetings to allow students to interact with each other and build social skills. Virtual schools also are using technology such as Skype and Internet "rooms" to allow students to interact online with peers and teachers. Virtual schools can be limiting for some students, experts say. However, it can be helpful for those who struggle to make friends or have special needs. "When they finally meet the other kids, those kids tend to be more open to them," the head of one online education company said. Education Week (1/12)
