Antibiotic shows promise as treatment for intellectual disabilities

The antibiotic Minocycline is among a number of medications showing promise as treatments for fragile X syndrome, autism and other developmental disorders. It may be several years before large-scale trials are complete, but the medications have led to improvements for 14-year-old Chase Brown, who has fragile X, and is among 50 children and adults taking Minocycline as an experimental treatment.
