Obama signs reauthorization of $231M autism act

The Combating Autism Reauthorization Act, signed by President Barack Obama on Friday, will provide $231 million in funding for autism programs over the next three years and is almost identical to the first autism bill passed in 2006. The funding will go toward research, screening, intervention and other initiatives. Many autism advocates applauded the new law, but the Autistic Self Advocacy Network opposes it because it leans too heavily toward children and not adults with the disorder.
