Post-secondary experience offered for students with disabilities
Students with disabilities who attend a Wisconsin high school are part of an eight-week pilot program that has them learning at a local community college. STRIVE -- the Students Taking Responsibility for Independence & Vocational Education program -- is designed to provide post-secondary experiences for students with disabilities who are eligible to receive services at public schools until age 21. "We want to give these students an opportunity to navigate a world of higher expectations," special-education teacher Barbara Dedrick said.
