La. therapists use microphones to give students with autism a voice
Speech therapists Bridget Seals and Millie Mayeux are having students with autism and other communication disorders at Grace King High School in Metairie, La., use a microphone to read from a television screen the morning announcements and current events to the school twice a week. The exercises help the students improve their overall communication skills because many need a prompt to talk or don't know what to say. "It does magical things," Seals said. "It allows our students to have their voices heard." The Times-Picayune (New Orleans) (12/4) http://www.nola.com/education/index.ssf/2012/12/grace_king_broadcast_program_o.html#incart_m-rpt-2
