Review looks at underlying causes of learning disabilities


U.K. researchers found that learning disabilities can co-occur far more often than expected and are the result of abnormal brain development caused by complex genetic and environmental factors. Of children with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, 33% to 45% have dyslexia and 11% have dyscalculia, according to the review in the journal Science.
