Rates
of neurodevelopmental and mental disabilities among children have risen by 16%
over the past decade, according to a study based on data from two National
Health Interview Surveys by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Researchers, who presented the study at the Pediatric Academic Societies' annual
meeting, also noted that the rate of children diagnosed with disabilities has
increased among families with more affluent backgrounds, but children living in
poverty have the highest rates of disabilities. HealthDay News (5/5) http://consumer.healthday.com/Article.asp?AID=676076
