Brain folding patterns are different in children with autism,
according to findings in a pair of studies published online by PubMed. Many
brain regions with excess folding begin to fold earlier than others during
gestation, so disruption in these areas early in development could amplify
folding as time progresses, said co-lead researcher Ruth Carper of San Diego
